After taking a little bit of a break from blogging to celebrate the new year, I'm excited to jump back into writing in 2016 with a fresh outlook, a billion ideas for future posts, and a motivation I haven't had in quite some time.
For the past couple of years now, this space has served me creatively in so many ways. It has become my place to candidly share pieces of myself, and I intend to continue to use this platform to share my thoughts, ideas, and inspiration with all of you.
It seems the current trend for the new year is to have a word... one word that sums up all of ones goals, wishes, and hopes for the coming year. 2015 was a year full of big changes for our family... a big move, the news that our family was growing, and so much more... chaos in the best way possible.
Naturally, all of this got me to thinking about my one word...
If I could sum up my aspirations for the coming year in just a few letters, what would be most fitting? The word I finally settled on was SIMPLIFY.
In 2016, I hope to slow down, scale down, purge, and simplify.
I know this sounds a bit crazy, seeing as I am about to become a mom of 3, but the reality is, I have come to realize that simplifying is the answer to a lot of my stress and anxiety. We live in a world where there is just so much stuff. So many thoughts, opinions, ideas on how and why... sometimes things can feel so rushed, so forced, so pushed on us.
I'm learning quickly that this time with my children is fleeting, they are going to be little for such a short while, and I want to enjoy every second of it. I want to slow down and take it all in. I want to live in the moment.
I don't want to feel forced or pushed to do things. I want to do what feels best for us, for me, for my family.
I want to simplify our daily routine. I want to organize our home. I want to go at our own pace.
I want my kids to play, and laugh, and grow.
I want to continue to grow this blog and the relationships that have formed because of it.
I want to continue to create and make, I want my Etsy shop to thrive.
I want to continue to grow as a person, a wife, a mother, a friend, a sister.
Scaled down and simplified, I want to do it all!!!
Will I? Who knows? The motivation is there at the moment... but of course, that's the thing about kicking off a new year. It's a fresh start and it leaves you feeling ready to take on the world... here's to hoping that the feeling continues.
I hope that 2016 has found you all feeling refreshed and motivated, ready to take on your dreams, and ready to set out and do it, whatever "it" may be, once and for all.
I want to thank you for taking the time to follow along here on Kozy & Co. The fact that anyone takes the time to read what I have to say means the world to me... you guys play a huge part in the motivation I'm feeling to keep plugging on and sharing. Your support and kind words are the drive that keeps me feeling inspired. I love hearing your opinions, your thoughts, literally everything you all have to say. So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Happy 2016!!!
Love this!! I need to do this as well! And yes, time is flying. Soak it in. I see your little ones and long for the days with both of girls at home and wish I would have done more and enjoyed it more. Please share some tips as you begin to simplify!!!! Xoxo, Kelly V in Pittsburgh!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment, Kelly, and thank you for reading! I appreciate the words of wisdom from someone who has been where I am currently. I used to feel annoyed when people would tell me to enjoy every minute because it goes by so quickly, but now I am learning on my own, how true that is. Hoping this year, to really slow down and go at a pace that suits us! xo
DeleteLove!! You hit this nail on the head. We all can benefit from simplifying every part of our life.
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet friend! I'm hoping we can stick to it!!! Happy New Year!
